NAME: Michelle
AGE: 20

INTERESTS; I like mythology, folklore, legends-- any story rife with history and culture. I really love astronomy and psychology; socionics is a branch of personality psychology and it is AWESOME. Music, technology, science, books, art....I have been interested in everything but economics and politics at one point or another.

HOBBIES; Playing piano and lounging about in hot tubs with a book. When it is warm out I love wandering outside in the woods or in towns/cities (not New York sized cities though, they freak me out) and exploring; biking or boating are cool too. I like to write and create art, in lieu of that I find something else to alter....whether that merely be rearranging my room. Work and school, also-- I'm a Psychology and Archeology student, currently unemployed as well as waiting to begin winter semester as a transfer student. Looong wait, it has been 3 months and about 1 to go still.

LOOKING FOR; I'm not terribly discriminating. No spam? Intolerance and bigotry make me pissy?

ANYTHING ELSE; Well, my favorite television shows are Merlin, Doctor Who, and Sherlock Holmes (Granada...Jeremy Brett is awesome). Battlestar Galactica (reimagined) is probably the best show ever, though it isn't my favorite. I love reading intelligent yet beautiful writing, such as Oscar Wilde; I also really like Tolkien and Conan Doyle. Classic rock (CCR, Blue Oyster Cult, Metallica, Boston, etc) is just gorgeous, but oftentimes nothing can beat a good piano concerto. The Shining is the best movie ever. LOL  Now that I have bombarded you all with a string of slightly unrelated information....... ;)

11/5/09 11:14 am - [info]billysands posting in [info]you_tube_links - Everything you always wanted to know about sex

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask) (1972) is Woody Allen's fourth film, consisting of a series of short sequences loosely inspired by Dr. David Reuben's book of the same name.

The film was an early smash for Allen, grossing over $18 million dollars in the U.S. alone against a $2 million dollar budget.

Film Structure
The credits at the start and close of the film are played over a backdrop of a large mass of white rabbits, to the tune of Let's Misbehave by Cole Porter.

The film is divided into seven vignettes, as follows:

Do Aphrodisiacs Work?
In which a court jester (played by Allen) gives a love potion to a Queen (played by Lynn Redgrave), but is foiled by her chastity belt. There are references to Shakespeare's Hamlet throughout.
What is Sodomy?
In which a doctor (Gene Wilder) falls in love with the partner of an Armenian patient ... a sheep.
Why Do Some Women Have Trouble Reaching an Orgasm?
About a woman (played by Louise Lasser) who can only reach orgasm in public. Allen's homage to Italian film-making in general and Casanova 70, Michelangelo Antonioni and Federico Fellini in particular.
Are Transvestites Homosexuals?
In which a middle-aged married man (played by Lou Jacobi) experiments with women's clothes.
What Are Sex Perverts?
Which features a parody of the game show What's My Line? called What's My Perversion?, filmed in kinescope-style and hosted by Jack Barry. The four panelists who attempt to guess the contestant's perversion are Regis Philbin, Robert Q. Lewis, Pamela Mason, and Toni Holt. After they fail to guess that the contestant's perversion is "Likes to expose himself on a subway", a second segment of the show is presented, in which a selected viewer (in this case a rabbi) gets to act out his bondage and humiliation fantasy.
Are the Findings of Doctors and Clinics Who Do Sexual Research and Experiments Accurate?
In which a researcher (played by Allen) and journalist Helen (Heather MacRae), visit a researcher (played by John Carradine) who formerly worked with Masters and Johnson but now has his own laboratory complete with a lab assistant named Igor (played by Ref Sanchez). After they see a series of bizarre sexual experiments underway at the lab and realize the researcher is insane, they escape before Helen becomes the subject of another of his experiments. The segment culminates with a scene in which the countryside is terrorized by a giant runaway breast created by the researcher.
What Happens During Ejaculation?
Which is set in a man's brain (and other parts of the body) as he gets involved in a sexual clinch. We see the NASA-like control center in the man's brain (headed by Tony Randall and featuring Burt Reynolds as the switchboard operator) and see the soldier-like sperm (one of them portrayed by Allen) as they are dispatched paratrooper-style into the great unknown. Erin Fleming played the man's lover.

Critical response
An August 1972 review by Time said that many of the film's ideas "sound good on paper" but that the "skits wind down rather than take off from the ideas"; the film includes "some broad, funny send-ups of other movies (Fantastic Voyage, La notte), and its fair share of memorably wacky lines" but that "overall it is just Woody marking time and being merely a little funnier".

The Time Out Film Guide noted that some of the film's sketches are "dross, but the parodies of Antonioni (all angst and alienation of a wife who can achieve orgasm only in public places) and of TV panel games ('What's My Perversion?') are brilliantly accurate and very funny. Best of all is the sci-fi parody entitled 'What Happens During Ejaculation?'."

In 2004, Christopher Null, founder of filmcritic.com, called it a "minor classic and Woody Allen's most absurd film ever

I'm Kate. I'm 17, happy, and fun. I love the most random music. And when I say that I really mean it: the Backstreet Boys, Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and random rap. I read almost anything. My recent read was The Other Boylen Girl, and it was sooo good. I love House. I'm looking for new friends because a lot of friends don't update and/or don't comment. I am such a people person, so I promise you will love me. I normally update about the most random things, from boy issues, to forking someone's lawn. Friends?

My name is Melissa, I'm 21 years old and I reside in Canada. I'm half Italian, half Black. I'm a Political Science major/minor in Philosophy. Right now I should be studying for my philosophy midterm but I'd rather make friends. I enjoy reading, writing, drawing, exercising, going to the movies, going out for fancy dinners, etc. I'm just really social and try to make friends everywhere (which is actually new for me, I was a self-proclaimed hermit). Part of me is really "feminine" in the sense that I'm high maintenance, I love make up, heels, hair, rainbows and fairy dust and at the same time part of me isn't. Trust me, I look really out of place at a Megadeth concert. I have a pet snake and a siberian husky. I was vegetarian for two and a half years and now I'm pescetarian (pesky tarian har, har). In my journal you will find lots of pictures, rants, the 411 on my life, discussions, etc. I'm looking for diverse amounts of friends, so feel free to add me!
